Description

Artist Statement:

I am using the medium of textile art to help bring attention to the thousands of  missing and or murdered Indigenous women and girls across Canada and United States. To society it seems to be a gray area where as to the families of these women it is clearly a black and white issue. Reports of missing women fade into the gray area of invisibility.

Artwork:

“Missing” represents the crisis of missing or murdered Native American women. The red dresses  in Missing are inspired by the Red Dress Project created by artist Jaime Black as a way to bring more awareness to the issue of missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls.
