Description

Artist Statement:

In my work I research history to create narratives on a variety of subjects. The painting presented here is titled A Brief History of Plastic and includes portraits of some of the inventors of various forms of plastic. The molecular structure is represented with references to petroleum used in plastic production. The painting also examines the seductive properties of plastic: its use is ubiquitous and the colors and shapes can be alluring in spite on the fact that it has resulted in an ecological nightmare. The center area of the painting depicts the grim reality of plastic products that have accumulated in massive quantities in oceans and water ways.

Artwork:

The works utilizes multiple and shaped picture planes to produce a non-sequential narrative showing the science and history of plastic.
